Tour Company Up and Running

IBEC consultant Gary Willett led a group of 8 American tourists in September 2012 to experience the first tour of a new company in northern India.  The group then evaluated the experience and gave consulting advice to the owners who responded to state challenges.  State Minister of Tourism declared, "Our state with all its inclusive and rapid growth, is emerging as a globally preferred place to live and do business."  IBEC consultant Ken Leahy is credited with the foundation consulting to this new business.

Summer 2012 IBEC Interns

At the July meeting, Dave Kier was appointed to a three-year term on the IBEC board of directors.  He is the owner and CEO of DFS Feeds, a midwest leader in the animal nutrition industry.  The DFS website declares, "It is the desire of DFS, Inc. to be an indispensable ally in delivering value through knowledge, honoring God in all that we do."

Matching Grant Received
IBEC was recently advised of a $30,000 matching grant to help with expansion efforts.  In July the IBEC board approved a forward-looking business plan which will seek new markets overseas with a renewed effort at recruiting and training new consultants in North America.  IBEC's vision is focused on the most unreached and impoverished areas of the world, but recognizes opportunities for training and consulting with others in North America.

IBEC Trip to Central Asia
IBEC sponsored a trip to Kyrgystan where the group not only visited several established businesses  but consulted on several start ups.  New IBEC consultant Dave Kier was on the trip and was able to contribute significantly to the agribusiness component drawing on his career in the Iowa feed industry.  Dave is now coaching a company in Kyrgystan.

IBEC Training in Baltimore
IBEC consultant Jim Mayer coordinated a two day event which attracted 26 IBEC participants, most of whom were new to IBEC.  The training included an introduction to IBEC, models of operation and tools for consulting.  Sessions were taught by Ken Leahy, Dean Callison,  Mike Parrot and Kathryn Shimabukuro, and Larry Sharp.  Attendees represented attorneys, business owners, CPAs, executives and other subject matter experts.  They came from all regions of the USA.

Water Project - Indonesia
This water project has just received its first corporate sponsor contracted to fund a portion of the village projects.  The sponsor from Jakarta will also promote the project in all of their stories around the country.  This is an important development in the transition of this company from an NGO to a For Profit endeavor focusing on potable water for interior villages.  See feature elsewhere in this website.

IBEC Consultant strengthens Australian business working in Thailand
Director of Consulting Services, Ken Leahy just returned from Australia where he devoted seven days to Moselle Clothing, Inc., an Australian company that markets clothing made by women rescued from trafficking in Thailand.  Mr. Leahy's recommendations (which will be carried out over a 14-month period) will position the company to be a viable commercial enterprise.  The business model was updated, a five-year financial plan was projected, and further partnerships developed in the Brisbane area.

Training and Consulting for Coffee Companies in Nepal
Mr Leahy also reported on a week long trip to Nepal where he focused on developing the business strategy for TOTW, explored client opportunities with other existing companies, and conducted seminars on Decision Making and Relationship Marketing.  The business milieu in Nepal demonstrates the value of partnering as critical to IBEC Ventures modus operandi.

The recent TOTW progress report reported the fabrication of "the first coffee roaster that was ever fabricated in-country."  IBEC consultants are helping build the company and recently also connected the owner with a business partner who hopes to join them later in the year.
